Deleted your treasured images accidentally? A solution is awaiting here!

They say “School life is the golden period of one's life.” And I agree with that completely because I miss my school days greatly. In today's hustle-bustle life, no one has time to catch up with old friends at regular intervals. Get together do take place but once in a blue moon.

But yes, I do find solace when I reminisce the moments spent with my friends by looking at a bunch of school-time images. Last weekend, when I sat back and opened my laptop to view the images, I got the shock of my life. Alas! they were nowhere to be found on my hard drive. Finding me upset, my brother approached me and later in our conversations I discovered that he was the culprit.

He deleted some folders (including the one which had my school images) in his bid to free some space to accommodate a new video game on the laptop. Since my brother was the culprit, he helped me in retrieving the deleted images. He introduced me to the concept of digital image recovery.

However, I would like to elaborate why an image never gets deleted permanently. If an image gets deleted from the hard drive, it is very much recoverable. What happens when a deletion (accidental or intentional) occurs is the file entry gets deleted and the hard drive marks the space free. The content of the file remains 100 per cent intact till the time the disk doesn't overwrite it. It is suggested to stop any further disk activity (like writing, copying more files etc) lest the space get used up by some other file. Additionally, even if the files were deleted by using a “Shift-Delete” key combination, they can be recovered with the help of an image recovery utility.
